ASPEN/SNOWMASS TO HOST 2014 COLORADO JUNIOR FREERIDE COMPETITION PRESENTED BY GOPRO
Aspen/Snowmass, Colo., December 19, 2013 – New this year, Aspen/Snowmass will host an International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association (IFSA) Sanctioned Junior Regional Freeride Competition on February 8, 2014.This regional competition will offer skiers and riders an opportunity to qualify for future national competitions. The competition is open to skiers and snowboarders between the ages of 10 and 18 and has a strong focus on line choice, fluidity, control, technique, style and energy. The venue for the competition will be Aspen Highlands on a run that will be announced at a later date. Local legend and big mountain pro skier, Chris Davenport will be emceeing the competition.
“We are excited to provide young rippers with the opportunity to show off at Highlands. The snowpack is already incredible so we are looking forward to some great conditions in February," says Cat Leonaitis, event marketing manager at Aspen Skiing Company. "We are working with the IFSA and Aspen Highlands Ski Patrol to pick the perfect venue”
The divisions of ski and snowboard will consist of: athletes 11 years old and younger, a 12-14 Division and a 15-18 Division.
Registration opens this Friday, December 20, 2013 at 4 p.m. The cost to register will be $60 and will not include a competition day lift ticket. Tickets will be available for $43 at the ticket window with competitor bib. Registration will be available at www.aspensnowmass.com/JRfreeride. All competitors must be 10 years old by December 31, 2013. Age categories are determined by an athlete’s age as of December 31, 2013.

The Snowbird Regional competition set to take place January 4-5, 2014 has been postponed due to current snow conditions. We will post the rescheduled dates when they become available.

2014 IFSA registration announcement
Athletes, Parents, and Coaches!
After several months of work, we have a 2014 schedule that is almost 40 events deep, and it is finally registration time! Registration this year will follow the same general process as last year, with National Series events registration beginning on Dec. 2, and some Regional Series events registration starting as early as Dec. 2. We will be using the same three-phase registration process on Athlete Path for the Nationals as was used last year.
NATIONALS REGISTRATION TIMELINE & INSTRUCTIONS
Athletes participating in National Series events will take part in pre-qualified athlete registration, quota registration, and/or open registration. We will be posting the open registration instructions on the freeskiers.org website. All pre-qualified athletes will be emailed instructions individually, and quota registration instructions will be distributed directly through your coached programs.

Please be sure to review the 2014 North American Junior Event Series document which has the 2014 list of pre-qualified athletes. Athletes who fail to register during their allotted time for pre-qualified athletes or for quota spots will forfeit their spots and will need to register during open registration.

Regional Series registration will use Athlete Path or resort hosts' own websites, and in many cases, resorts will determine their own registration schedules and process. Keep an eye on your email box, Facebook and the freeskiers.org website for the most up-to-date Regional registration information.

Salt Lake City, UT - The International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association proudly announces the 2014 Junior Big Mountain Freeskiing and Snowboarding event dates. The IFSA would like to extend a special thank you to all of the athletes, coaches, judges, parents, resorts, and event organizers who worked together to deliver an incredible season last year. Our 2013 IFSA NA Junior Series wrapped up with a total of 31 independently run, well-executed events culminating with the first ever Junior NorAm Championship.
Almost all of last year’s events will be returning to this year’s line up and we will be adding a few new events to bring our 2014 series to a total of 38 national, regional and championship events. The below schedule is preliminary as we are still fine tuning inspection dates and a few events are yet to be finalized.
