As the only STEFT stop in southern Vermont, Magic Mountain held up to it's typical reputation with the course being on the famed Black Line trail that saw upwards of 80 competitors on Saturday Feb. 28th. Thanks to all the blizzards that hit southern New England this winter, coverage was some of the best we've seen over the past 6 years, and the completely sunny skies and 20 degree weather were the cherries on top.

Castle Mountain Junior Freeski Competition Canceled

Junior Freeski Big Mountain Event 2015 hosted at Castle Mountain Resort has been cancelled. This decision has been made due to the current conditions. The warm temperatures and lack of snow have forced this unfortunate outcome. Event organizers have made the decision that there is no appropriate event venue available.

Refund information will follow. We look forward to hosting this great event again next season.

Crested Butte FWQ 4* Wildcards

The Crested Butte 4* Freeride World Qualifying even is the oldest freeride competition in the Americas and, as you might expect,  the demand to participate in this year's competition will once again exceed the number of competitors that we are able to host.

We do have a very limited number of Wild Card spots open for athletes who for whatever reasons do not currently have enough FWQ points to ensure their spot in this event via the normal registration process through the FWQ. If you are interested in applying for a Wild Card allocation, we will need the following.

IFSA 2015 U12 Junior Championship Postponed

The Grand Targhee U12 Championships, originally scheduled for March 18-23rd, has been postponed because so many IFSA Qualifier events at other locations have been cancelled or delayed.  "Many of our regions have expereinced a tough time getting their season underway", says Scott Mahoney, IFSA President, "and it would be unfair to hold a Championship event when so many kids have not had a chance to compete yet this year".

"Conditions at Targhee's traditional freeride venues of Reliable and Bobcat are skiing great at this time," says Andy Williams, the Grand Targhee Event Manager.  "With one of the best snowpacks in the Northern Rockies right now, we are really looking forward to hosting the IFSA National event for the 12 to 18-year-old athletes."

Stop 1 and 2 TJFS March 5-8 Moved to Squaw Valley

While last weekend's storm brought in over 2 feet of new snow, it was not enough for a quality event at Sugar Bowl. After careful inspection of Sugar Bowl's Avalanche venue, the Technical Director found that hidden volcanic rocks presented a safety hazard. The move to Squaw Valley will provide the TJFS crew with better conditions and more venue options given the current snow pack and weather forecast. Sugar Bowl and the TJFS crew look forward to a top notch event for Stop 3 at Sugar Bowl on March 26-29.

Registration for the original TJFS Sugar Bowl, remains in place for this weekend at Squaw. If you would like to register for this weekend's comp, registration for Stop 1 and 2 TJFS at Squaw Valley will remain open on Athletepath until midnight on March 4, 2015.
