That’s the forecast on deck for the upcoming events at Beartooth Basin, near Red Lodge, Montana. The first IFSA Junior and FWQ events of 2020 are poised to kick off the third week in June, 2019 with back-to-back Freeride competitions and a full slate of off-snow events that make this week a memorable gathering on the Region 2 Freeride calendar for 2020.

Highlighting changes and improvements for the June event is the addition of B-Roll, a participatory mountain film festival that will showcase YOUR two-minute edit at a red-carpet night on June 20, hosted at the Roosevelt Center in Red Lodge and produced in conjunction with the Friends of the Beartooth All-American Road, the Red Lodge Chamber of Commerce and the Red Lodge Community Foundation.

B-Roll is complemented by the return of the educational and inspirational Shred-X Talks. Featuring enlightening and powerful 10-15-minute presentations by artists, entreprenures, and athletes, this free event is often a highlight of the week. This year’s speakers include noted snow science and avalanche expert Karl Birkeland, who will be joined by sculptor and fabricator John Wenner and inventor and product designer Gavin Gibson. Shred-X will take place at the Red Lodge Roosevelt Center on June 19 and is supported by a cultural tourism grant from Yellowstone County, Montana.

While the off-snow ecosystem is fun and will keep you busy in the evenings, there’s nothing quite like skiing the rugged Beartooth Basin in June. High above Red Lodge, Montana, this is a ski area is like nothing else. There's no frills, cheap daily lift tickets, boundless backcountry options, and plenty of spicy terrain to keep you smiling all day long. The riders most seem to appreciate the endless backcountry access and road skiing laps down the Headwall in one of America's greatest mountain ranges.

Registration for the FWQ 2* event will open May 10, at 5:00 PM MST and a current 2020 athlete license will be needed to compete. Registration for the IFSA Junior Regional event will open soon and a 2020 membership is also required. Check the event page, your email, and social media often for updates regarding the registration opening date. We expect it shall be soon!

If you’re trying to rack up points for Freeride World Tour Qualification, compete in your first Junior Regional for 2020, or if you’re just competing for fun, the Beartooth Mountains in June are the place to be!
