Taos Wild Card Requests - Information For Athletes
Thank you for your interest in the Taos 4* Freeride World Qualifying event. We're excited to be hosting the oldest 4* FWQ competition in the Americas again this year and, as you might expect given the illustrious history of the event, the demand to participate in this year's competition will once again exceed the number of competitors that we are able to host.
We do have a very limited number of Wild Card spots open for athletes who for whatever reasons do not currently have enough FWQ points to ensure their spot in this event via the normal registration process through the FWQ. If you are interested in applying for a Wild Card allocation, we will need the following.
A complete athlete resume, including results in FWQ, FWT or other elite competitions (this could include Dew Tour, Winter X or even FIS NorAm or Europa Cup events). Wild Card invitations for Taos are weighted according to results. We look closely at your results from competitions, international and national level events will carry more weight with the selection committee than regional or local events.
Complete sponsor list, including contact names of team managers, etc. for references.Please include email and phone numbers of referees.
Should an athlete be issued a Wild Card invitation to Taos, they must have or obtain a current FWQ athlete license to compete. There will be no exceptions to this requirement. Full registration fees will also be due prior to a start number being issued.
Wild Card invitations will be released no later than 1 week prior to the event.
Athletes will have 48 hours to accept an invitation, at which time the invitation may be extended to the next suitable candidate.

Want to get involved with the event but don't qualify to compete via FWQ rankings and do not have a Wild Card invitation? We are looking for a few volunteers to assist with on-mountain logistics. Please contact us for more information.
