Junior Big Mountain Champions crowned at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort

Snowbird, UT -- The Snowbird Sports Education Foundation (SBSEF) hosted 231 junior (ages 12-18) athletes from 26 freeride teams last weekend for the North American Junior Freeskiing and Snowboarding Championships presented by Anon. The top ski and snowboard freeride athletes from the U.S. and Canada convened at Snowbird to compete on the world class Silver Fox venue.

Saturday night the athletes, parents, coaches, and judges gathered at the Cliff Lodge to celebrate the end of the season with live music and an awards ceremony to announce the 2014 championship event winners as well as the 2014 IFSA Champions. Stohke Productions provided $2000 in scholarships to the winners in each overall category. Nine additional sponsors provided prizes for the top five finishers.

"IFSA and SBSEF would like to thank our event sponsors Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, SBSEF, Anon, Stohke Productions, BCA, The North Face, Discrete, Dynastar, Jones Snowboards, Never Summer, Nitro SnoBrdCo and Milo Sport," said Rob Greener SBSEF event director.

"The IFSA bids farewell to the graduating seniors on the tour. Many of these athletes have competed in national level big mountain freeriding competitions since they were 12 years old. They will now move on to college, careers, and adult freeriding competitions. The IFSA wishes the 2014 graduates all the best in their future endeavors," said IFSA president Scott Mahoney.

Graduate Taylor Pratt leaves us with this quote:

"It's been one heck of a journey on this tour. I've been so lucky to have been able to travel on the IFSA tour for so many years and it's been so cool to have met so may people and made so many memories. As I took my last run yesterday, even with a bobble, all I could do was smile and think of the great times I've had. I want to thank everyone of the past few years for all the support, love and extremely high vibes. It means so much to me to have so many rad people surrounding me. But for now, I gotta move on, go to college and take what I've learned as a junior into the big boy tour."
