New Board Members

With the 2012 season behind us, we at the IFSA want to recognize the passion of those who have made our sport a continued success. As we anticipate the 2013 season, with its hopeful contrast in snow fall, the IFSA is excited to announce upcoming changes.

Jason Frazier of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA will be leading as the new President of the IFSA. Frazier comes to the board of directors after three years of competing on the Freeskiing World Tour as well as an 11 year career in the financial industry, working in market growth and development. Frazier received an education from the University of Utah obtaining degrees in economics, accounting and finance. "I couldn't be more excited to be working with the IFSA. It's an organization that continues to develop and promote the sport of big mountain riding", said Frazier. "My vision for the IFSA is to bring the sport to a whole new level of exposure, while focusing on continued safety and an athlete centered experience." Over the past two years the IFSA has flourished under the leadership of Rob Greener. Greener has done an excellent job in building an unmatched junior program and will remain on the board as Vice President; continuing to spearhead junior IFSA events.

Other changes include a new Head Judge, Eric Schmitz. "We are thrilled that Schmidty has accepted the position as Head Judge with the IFSA", said Frazier. "Schmidty's commitment to our high standards of consistency and excellence make him a perfect fit to continue the legacy of our previous Head Judge, Jim Jack."

The Board of Directors would like to thank Chris Paulding, previous Vice President of the IFSA. We wish Chris good luck in his next adventures. Paulding will continue to be involved with the association as a Judge, as well as a member of our advisory board.

Frazier said, "2012 will forever be remembered as the year we said good bye to our mentor, friend and brother, Jim Jack. May we always keep his passion alive as we celebrate our sport together in the mountains."

Confirmed Junior Structure

After the close of a successful 2012 junior competition series the IFSA is pleased to announce changes and updates to the 2013 competition season. Programs, coaches, the IFSA board of directors, advisory board, event promoters, and athletes have all had a chance to voice their opinions on how they want the future of junior freeskiing to unfold. The IFSA has listened and responded in a unique way that builds off of the 2012 platform and has placed a stronger emphasis on event development and accessability. New for the 2013 season you will see more regional and national events, regional boundaries, and junior Snowboarding! “To help establish a sustainable approach to the amount of demand we have seen in junior freeskiing the IFSA will back 30-40 regional competitions this season and to add to the mix snowboarding will be included in regional events, some nationals, and at the national champs!” (Said Rob Greener VP of the IFSA ) The regional event series will be the backbone of the sport and allow a proper pipline into the national “top” level competitions. The IFSA has also agreed to support a National Championship event, athletes will qualify both regional and nationally. “The 2013 season is going to be a lot different for some people to digest, however if we want to keep the sport safe and growing properly the changes are vital for the sport to prosper.” Said Rob Greener.
