The 2011 Subaru Freeskiing World Tour Qualifier Moves to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Athlete and media registration opens on December 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. MST

SALT LAKE CITY – December 13, 2010— The Subaru Freeskiing World Tour is excited to return to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort with the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour Qualifier on January 27-30, 2011. The tour stop at Jackson Hole will serve as a qualifying event for top skiers who are not already qualified for the World Tour.

"Jackson Hole Mountain Resort stands out in my mind as one of the top freeskiing meccas and a great fit for the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour Qualifier," said Bryan Barlow, event director for the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour. "The resort's steep flowing terrain, natural features and heavy snowfalls are conducive to our tour, and specifically the new 'style' category we'll be judging on. Combined with Jackson's charging locals, you can count on high energy and innovative freeskiing being thrown down in the Tetons."

The resort features a vertical drop of 4,139 feet within 2500 acres of inbounds terrain, and with the biggest opening on record, conditions are expected to be ideal for the January event.

"Big Mountain skiing is part of the DNA of Jackson Hole. From the era of Doug Coombs to the new generation of skiers like Jess McMillan, Crystal Wright and Griffin Post, Jackson Hole has been the breeding grounds of the freeride movement," said Zahan Billimoria, communications manager at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. "TGR made its home here over a decade ago and to this day, Jackson Hole remains the most magnetic destination for big mountain skiers in the United States."

After Jackson Hole, WY, the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour continues on to Crested Butte, CO for the 16th Annual Subaru U.S. Extreme Freeskiing Championships on February 17-21, 2011. The tour then heads west to Kirkwood, CA for the Subaru North America Freeskiing Championships on February 23-27, 2011. The final stop will find the world's best skiers competing at the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour Championships in Snowbird, UT on March 8-13.

Athlete and media registration for Jackson Hole opens on December 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. MST. at  www.freeskiingworldtour.com
