DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FWQ EVENTS IN REGIONS 1 & 2 – COMING SOON!

As a general reminder, the following competitive Freeride opportunities currently exist for adult Freeride athletes in Region 2.

FWQ Series

IFSA FWQ competitive Freeride events are open to adult athletes 18 and older. Points earned are applied towards Freeride World Tour qualification and an athlete's Global Seeding List ranking. The amount of points awarded is dictated by the level of event, 2*, 3*, or 4*. Events with a higher star value indicate the potential to earn more points. (Example: Winning a 4* event will gain you far more points than winning a 2* event) For point tables, please CLICK HERE.

Collegiate Series

The CFS (Collegiate Freeride Series) is designed to allow young Freeriders to gain more experience in big mountain competition while allowing Member Schools to build points towards overall collegiate titles. The FWQ License is open to athletes 25 or younger as of December 31st. If an athlete wishes to build points for the CFS National Title, they must be a current student at a Member School and obtain an FWQ Collegiate Tour License. Note that in addition to earning FWQ points, athletes with the FWQ Collegiate Tour license will also accrue points for their university. Any IFSA-sanctioned FWQ event will earn an athlete with a Collegiate Tour license points toward their FWT qualification and points for their Member School.

IFSA FWQ REGISTRATION PROTOCOLS:

EFFECTIVE SEPT 1, 2018 REGISTRATION PROTOCOL FOR IFSA FWQ 2* EVENTS HAS CHANGED. For complete registration information, see Section 1.10 of the new IFSA FWQ Handbook - CLICK HERE

For FWQ 2* event registration, to reach alignment with Region 1 (Asia, Europe, Oceania), the IFSA in Region 2 (Canada, South America, United States) will now use an athlete’s position on the 52-week Global Seeding List to extend invitations when the registration period closes. This means that registration protocol for FWQ 2* events will now be identical to registration for 3* and 4* events.

AS ALWAYS DO NOT BOOK TRAVEL TO ANY FWQ FREERIDE EVENT UNTIL YOUR REGISTRATION IS CONFIRMED!

Being added to the waitlist is NOT confirmation of an invitation. Visit the designated IFSA event page to gather information about when to expect athlete meetings, check-in, and venue inspection. If you ever have a question about the event schedule, reach out to the event host listed on the page.

2*, 3*, AND 4* EVENT REGISTRATION + INVITE PROCESS

  • Registration for 2*, 3*, and 4* events takes place on Member Pro
  • Registration will always OPEN approx 6 weeks prior to each scheduled event
  • Registration will CLOSE approx 4 weeks prior to the event, invitations will then be issued
  • Registration periods will always be posted on the IFSA Event Pages

The registration period will be open for 2 weeks, during which all registrants are added to a waitlist. You may check your status at any time by logging into your FWQ account on MemberPro. When registration closes, invitations are issued based on an athlete’s Global Seeding List position. The relative rank of athletes on the waitlist will determine the likelihood of an event invitation.

IF YOU ARE A RANKED ATHLETE: Order of registration will not impact likelihood of an invite. As a ranked athlete, you may register at any time during the registration window, between 6 to 4 weeks before the event. Your ranking will dictate your likelihood of an invitation.

IF YOU ARE AN UNRANKED ATHLETE: Order of registration will dictate the order in which invitations are issued. If you hope to get into an event as an unranked athlete, we recommend signing up early during the 2-week registration period. Ranked athletes will be awarded invitations first; any remaining invitations will then be awarded to unranked athletes in the order in which they have registered.

If all waitlisted riders who registered during the 2-week period have been invited and invitations still remain, registration will be reopened. When invitations are extended by email, invited athletes have three days to withdraw their invitation or the credit card on file will be automatically charged for the registration fee and the invitation will be confirmed.

IFSA 2018 JUNIOR ATHLETES

If you were a Junior IFSA Athlete in 2018, your membership information and login for the FWQ registration program, Member Pro, has been emailed from the FWT and MemberPro. You already have a profile that will include points from your results as a junior athlete. If you have not received login information before registration opening, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

For more detailed information, see Section 1.3. of the IFSA FWQ Handbook - CLICK HERE

A NOTE ON ALL WAITLISTS

When you add yourself to a waitlist for ANY event, your credit card will be authorized for the registration amount. Depending on your bank's policies, this could place a pending charge on your account. This does not mean you are confirmed or have paid for the event. No funds are transferred until your invitation is confirmed. Note that upon receiving an invitation, athletes have 48 hours to cancel their registration. If you do not initiate a cancellation, you will be confirmed and your card will be charged for the registration fee within 48 hours of receiving an invitation by email.

For more detailed information, see Section 1.10. of the IFSA FWQ Handbook - CLICK HERE

Email reminders about registration will also be sent to all IFSA FWQ licensed adult athletes.
