How are Wild Card athletes chosen?

There are two ways to receive a Wild Card to an FWQ event.

1. An athlete is given a direct invitation by the resort to compete in the event as a Wild Card entry. There is typically an application process for athletes vying for a Wild Card entry. This information will always be specified on the associated IFSA FWQ Event Page. Athletes can apply for a Wild Card entry by emailing a Freeride resume to the resort contact listed on the correlating event page. Wild Cards entries are typically allocated to local athletes or those who may be new to Freeride and do not have an established ranking.

2. Beginning in the 2018-19 season, every FWQ4* event that also has an FWQ 2* event preceding it will award a Wild Card to the FWQ 4* event to the athlete in 1st for all four divisions. Note that the FWQ championship event is exempt from this rule.
